Whats the role?
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Program objectives provide the intern with hands:on experiences through teamwork and collaboration, as well as individual work assignments. Interns participate in a wide range of learning and development activities including job shadows, attending various speaking engagements and events designed to expose interns to other areas of the firm. Interns also have an opportunity to network with senior leaders across the firm, attend various social and work:sponsored events and are encouraged to engage in team volunteer opportunities within the community.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
A Business Analytics Intern will be assigned to one department. The specific responsibilities within each department will vary but basic responsibilities for all Interns may include:
:Writing queries to collect and prepare data for analysis
:Utilizing data visualization tools, such as Power BI and Tableau, to assist in analyses
:Participation in team reviews of analysis to provide additional insights and perspectives on analysis
:Fulfillment of various routine and ad:hoc reporting requests as needed
:Developing statistical models to predict productivity and behaviors
:Various small projects and process assistance as needed
The function of each department is as follows:
Corporate Strategy: Provide data driven decision support for key initiatives of company strategy measures related to client and sales analysis to understand both growth and economic impact.
Planning and Sales: Drives advisor productivity by integrating planning and products to support the delivery of a lifetime of financial security to clients. Specifically, Planning and Sales brings together a deep understanding of the field and consumers to drive a planning culture in the field, build advisor sales capabilities across products and markets, and instill advisor conviction in Northwestern Mutual and its products.
Field Business Intelligence: The Field Business Intelligence (FBI) team provides relevant, timely and quality information that is used to inform business decisions and that creates a consistent understanding and interpretation of distribution performance. FBI offers research, analysis, design and measurement of strategic initiatives working closely with business partners to drive aligned execution.
